Franchise World Link – the innovative company aiming to connect players in the franchise industry worldwide and focusing on developing regions such as Africa, Asia and North America – is pleased to announce the launch of their new country – India. India will be the base of operations for the company in the South Asia region and the company expects to grow into Srilanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives in the next few years.

Baljit Gulati, who has recently been appointed as Director South Asia for Franchise World Link shares his views on international franchise opportunities in India and the region:

‘The franchising industry in India is still at a very nascent stage and is expected to grow by about 400% in the next 3 to 5 years. The Indian consumer today, is exposed to International brands and is willing to spend on these new concepts. The franchise industry in India should see a significant increase in sectors of Health & Wellness, Retail, Food & Beverage, Travel and Education. The introduction of new policies by the government of India for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) should generate considerable interest by International brands to enter the country and establish a growing presence. The success of the Franchising model depends upon a collaborative partnership between Franchisors, Franchisees, Investors and companies like Franchise World Link.

With a current population of 1.25 Billion today that is expected to grow to 1.36 Billion by 2020 (overtaking China to become the most populated country in the world) and a GDP growth rate of above 6%, India provides massive opportunity for Franchising today.
